Northwich 3rd XI 142/9 lost to Widnes CC 228/7
Northwich’s 3rd XI battled hard but fell short on Sunday, bowled out for 142 in reply to Widnes’s 228. The visitors built a strong total, suffering just seven wickets, while Northwich struggled to build partnerships. Jake Thompson was the star with the ball, returning figures of 4 for 36, and Sam Patel chipped in with a tidy 2 for 45. In the batting reply, top‑order contribution came from Liam O’Reilly (34) and Chris Bennett (29), but once those wickets fell, the innings lost momentum. Northwich showed grit but couldn’t bridge the gap on the day. Match Report

Novas
It’s hard to believe the Novas are already in their fourth summer! From humble beginnings, they’ve now powered through to the quarter-finals of the Cheshire Women’s Softball Knockout Cup with a strong win away at Crewe Vagrants. Shoutout to Aimee and Kelly for their ‘Team of the Week’ spots after some excellent bowling and a steady chase. On Sunday, they backed it up with another win—this time in the league against Oulton Park. Great fielding (including four caught and bowled!), clever batting and lightning running sealed a net 349–252 win. Special mention to Netty for inventing the “bat-launch-commando-crawl” technique to avoid a run out—entertainment guaranteed! Thanks to both Crewe and Oulton Park for being top opponents. Women’s cricket is in great hands!

Juniors

U15s
Although the sun was shining bright at Northwich cricket club, tonight was a tough old game for our Under 15’s, leading to our first defeat of the season against a strong Elworth Team. Not all bad - we reflect on how far this team has come and to win our first six games is something the whole squad should be incredibly proud of. Not only is this a talented group of lads but their attitude and team spirit is second to none! Shown today by the fact they all are still smiling and remain positive! We regroup, move on and await our next game next week!

U13s
After a break from games last week our under 13’s took on a talented Middlewich team, who are top of the league undefeated, and we expected a tough game - and that is what we got! Put into bowl first Northwich took 4 very early wickets including 2 run outs! Middlewich recovered well and made a respectful 102 all out, which we knew would be tough to chase. Middlewich are a strong bowling team and didn’t make the chase easy! Northwich put on an incredibly strong batting performance, with our opening batter retiring on 30 but then the next three batters taking their time, protecting their wickets and making the required total of 104 for the loss of only 1 wicket. A really calm, positive batting performance. Overall, a lovely game against good opposition, super proud of the lads! With 3 games awaiting us next week let’s hope we continue with this form!

U11s
What other ways to spend a sunny Wednesday evening than playing a game of cricket. Our under 11’s were away at Middlewich - a lovely opposition. So many call outs… the fabulous team spirit between the team, confident bowling resulting in wickets and some big boundaries hit! Also the Under 11’s second hat trick ball of the season Absolutely brilliant - what a team! Let’s hope this weather stays for the next few weeks!

U9s

A double update from your youngest team! Our under 9’s have been on their travels the last two weeks with playing away at Aston last week and away at Crewe on Monday. Last week, it was a close game with the victory coming with only 6 runs! Although we were not our usual selves with the bat the difference was a brilliant, disciplined bowling and fielding performance to secure yet another victory. At Crewe, although our run rate was on par with Crewe unfortunately they took more wickets leading to our first defeat of the season. We are so proud of how these lads hold themselves with some playing for their first season! They kept their heads high and always give their all! They are an absolute credit to our club! Well done lads

Junior Novas
Our first ever girls’ softball team took to the field tonight for their debut match – and marked it with a win! After two false starts this season, the girls finally got their moment, putting their training into action with sharp bowling, strong fielding, and great teamwork. A big thanks to Oakmere CC for a fun and friendly game – full of promise and smiles.
