NCC Admin19 Jun - 06:47

A tough weekend for the senior sides, but the 3rd XI deliver a fine home win against Tattenhall. Here's your week nine round-up.

1st XI Match Report | Northwich CC vs Stockport Trinity CC | 13th June 2026

A frustrating afternoon for the 1st XI away at Stockport Trinity, going down by 3 wickets in what was a closely fought contest.

Northwich batted first and were bowled out for 132 from 40 overs. Jamie McDougall was once again the standout performer with the bat, top-scoring with a composed 63 before being dismissed. Rob Bushell and Alex Claridge-Ingham chipped in with useful contributions lower down, but the side were unable to post a bigger total on the day.

In reply, Stockport Trinity chased the target down in 30 overs, losing 7 wickets along the way. Ashley Sefton was excellent with the ball, taking 4 wickets, and Jamie McDougall added 3 more, giving Northwich every chance of defending the total. In the end though, Stockport held their nerve to seal the win by 3 wickets.

2nd XI Match Report | Oulton Park CC vs Northwich CC | 13th June 2026

A really tough day for the 2nd XI away at Oulton Park, who ran out winners by 279 runs in what was a difficult afternoon for the visitors.

Oulton Park won the toss and elected to bat, posting a mammoth 332-6 from their 50 overs. Matthew Evans picked up 2 wickets and James Maddock also took 2, but the Oulton Park batters were in fine form throughout, with Mark Johnson finishing unbeaten on 77 and Anthony Ollier contributing 68.

Chasing 333, Northwich were bowled out for just 53 in under 20 overs. Andy Hards was outstanding for the hosts, taking a remarkable 6-21 from 10 overs. A day to forget quickly, but the 2nds will dust themselves off and come back stronger. On to the next.

Brilliant effort all round. Well done lads!

Crewe Vagrants Sports Club vs Novas

What a game last night! Northwich Novas headed to a sun-soaked Crewe Vagrants Sports Club for their ‘Out, Out’ league fixture against Crewe — and what a match it was!

Batting first, the Novas put on a brilliant show, posting a very respectable 132 runs with Kelly and Becks both retiring on 30.

When it came to fielding, the team gave everything — 5 wickets taken with some impressive bowling, a great catch and some superb run outs keeping the pressure on right until the final ball.

Crewe edged it on 133 runs but with both sides playing out the full 20 overs, it really was the closest of games! A real team effort from every single Nova on that field — and a huge shoutout to Kelly who carried on through the fielding despite picking up an injury during batting. That’s the Novas spirit!

Alvanley CC vs Novas Girls

What a game last night at Alvanley! Our Northwich girls won the toss, fielded first and put in a brilliant performance — superb bowling and some great catches keeping Alvanley to 304. Northwich came back fighting in the second innings, posting an impressive 283 and pushing right to the end. Just 21 runs in it — so close! Incredible effort from the girls.

Wistaston CC Vs U9s

The Under 9’s travelled to Wistaston for a league game and WHAT A GAME it was - games don’t come much closer! Both teams put in a great performance which went right to the last over. Unfortunately it wasn’t our night tonight - losing by only 2 runs!!! Another brilliant effort in a game where another youngster made his debut and all the lads were quick to congratulate and encourage each other.
