Week 8 Round-Up | Three Wins, One Tough Day & A Brilliant Week for Northwich CC

NCC Admin12 Jun - 07:52

A brilliant week for the club! The 1st, 3rd XI and Women's Softball all win, while the 2nds face a tough afternoon. Here's your round-up.

1st XI Match Report | Lymm Oughtrington Park CC vs Northwich CC | 6th June 2026

What a character-building win for the 1st XI away at Lymm Oughtrington Park on Saturday. Chasing down 205 to win by 3 wickets, Northwich showed real grit and determination to get over the line, finishing on 205-7 from 39.3 overs.

Lymm won the toss and elected to bat, posting 204-6 from their 45 overs. Northwich's bowlers kept things tight throughout and gave the side a very chaseable target.

The reply wasn't without its nerves, with 7 wickets falling along the way, but the side held their nerve to seal a brilliant away win. Three points well earned and a result that will do wonders for confidence going into the weeks ahead. Well done lads!

2nd XI Match Report | Northwich CC vs North East Cheshire CC | 6th June 2026

A tough afternoon at home for the 2nd XI as North East Cheshire CC proved too strong on the day, winning by 10 wickets.

Northwich batted first and were bowled out for 85 from 28 overs. Thusyanthan Rajaretnam top-scored with a bright 36, and Muhammad Iqbal contributed a handy 21, but the North East Cheshire bowling attack was disciplined throughout, with Dave Oldfield particularly impressive taking 4-14 and Adam Burgess chipping in with 3-21.

In reply, the visitors made short work of the chase, knocking off the runs without loss inside 13 overs to seal a comprehensive win.

A difficult day, but the 2nds will dust themselves off and come back stronger. On to the next one.

3rd XI Match Report | Lymm Oughtrington Park CC vs Northwich CC | 7th June 2026

A great Sunday win for the 3rd XI as they saw off Lymm Oughtrington Park's 4th XI by 5 wickets, chasing down a revised target of 131 with over 6 overs to spare.

Winning the toss and electing to field, Northwich bowled Lymm out for 130 from just under 40 overs. James Maddock was the pick of the bowlers with an excellent 3-23, Harry Dent chipped in with 2-12, and Rajishan Sivakumar got things off to a flier with 2-15. Logan Tabberner and Ankush Padghane also contributed with the ball as the wickets were shared nicely across the attack.

The chase started shakily with 5 wickets falling inside 51 runs, but Thomas White and Alex Plank had other ideas. White was outstanding, finishing unbeaten on 59, while Plank provided brilliant support with an unbeaten 35 to guide Northwich home comfortably in the end.

A really pleasing team performance. Well done all!

Women's Softball | Northwich CC vs Alsager CC | 7th June 2026

A brilliant Sunday morning performance from the Northwich women as they beat Alsager CC by 47 runs in a really confident display.

Northwich posted an impressive 142-4 from their 16 overs. Kelly Saunders was in fine form, retiring not out on 31, while Isla Craig added a punchy 24 not out and Jane Ball contributed 13. There were useful contributions throughout the lineup as the team put together a total that always looked like being enough.

With the ball, Isla Craig and Annie Lawrence were both excellent, each taking 2 wickets, and Kelly Saunders and Mia Ball also chipped in with a wicket apiece. Alsager were restricted to 95-6 from their 16 overs, leaving Northwich comfortable winners by 47 runs.

A great team performance from start to finish. Well done!

Women's Softball | NECCC vs Northwich CC | 8th June 2026

What a special evening on Monday with the Northwich Novas getting through to the next round of the cup.

A lovely ground, warm sunshine and a really welcoming opposition made for a brilliant night of cricket. The team batted first and put in a fantastic collective effort.

The total racked up quickly with everyone doing their part, before the team took to the field and claimed a huge 8 wickets — no mean feat with only 7 players after Annie picked up an injury whilst batting. Some superb bowling did the damage, with Becks stepping up with a two wicket maiden over!

A superb all-round performance!

U11s vs Holmes Chapel CC

Our under 11’s travelled to Holmes Chapel. Batting first the team worked hard to only lose 3 wickets and make 88 runs. Holmes Chapel took on the chase and despite Northwich taking 8 wickets, Holmes Chapel made 125 runs meaning they took the win by only just 12 runs!!! Great game team, really supportive environment where the team grow in confidence and continue to thrive and learn! We go again next week!

U15s vs Middlewich CC

The weather was kind and the rain disappeared for the Under 15’s to face Middlewich in the Quarter final for the cup. Thanks to some strong batting with 1 batter retiring on 40 and 1 making over 30, leading the way for the team to score a total of 136. The bowling and fielding today was where we shone, keeping Middlewich to 51 runs and taking wickets, catches and stumpings! Haslington awaits in the Semi Finals! Well done Team - great game!

U9s vs Oulton Park CC

Our under 9’s completed 2 league games in 2 nights tonight but unfortunately couldn't quite make it 7 wins from 7 in the league tonight, losing a close game to a competitive Oulton Park team by only 15 runs. A few too many extras and lost wickets sees us lose our first league game of the season. It was great to see how supportive of each other they were tonight! All celebrating good fielding and wickets.

U9s vs Crewe CC

Our Under 9’s were back to league fixtures tonight with a home game against Crewe - and also back to winning ways for this great little group of players A disciplined performance with bat and ball sees us go to 6 league wins from 6, beating a decent opposition. Well played Lads.
