Week 2 Roundup

Week 2 Roundup

NCC Admin1 May - 05:37

A packed week of cricket at Northwich CC! Wins, debuts, close finishes and plenty of smiles. Here's your weekly round-up

What an opening weekend for Northwich CC! 1st XI and Under 15s, Under 9s triumph away at Bunbury and the 11s secure a home win. The season is underway!

1st XI Match Report | Northwich CC vs Langley CC | 25th April 2026
A tough afternoon for the 1st XI at home as Langley CC ran out convincing winners by 116 runs on Saturday.

Winning the toss and electing to field, Northwich bowled Langley out for 196 from 44 overs, picking up 2 bowling points in the process. However, the batting reply fell well short, with the side dismissed for just 80 in 21 overs as Langley's bowlers proved too strong on the day.

A result to learn from, and the lads will be looking to bounce back next week.

2nd XI Match Report | Bollington CC vs Northwich CC | 25th April 2026
It was a challenging day for the 2nd XI away at Bollington, losing by 10 wickets, but the result only tells part of the story.

With low player numbers, around 70% of the side was made up of juniors who stepped up without hesitation to represent the club. That in itself is something to be incredibly proud of. Northwich were bowled out for 71, and Bollington chased the target down without loss inside 14 overs.

But this was a day about experience, character and development. Every one of those young players will be better for it, and the club couldn't be more grateful to them for putting their hand up when it mattered. These are exactly the moments that build cricketers. Well done to all involved.

Women's Softball | Holmes Chapel CC vs Northwich CC | 26th April 2026
Sunday was a special day for Northwich CC Women's Softball as the team took on Holmes Chapel CC in what was a brilliant, closely fought contest.

A few nerves, plenty of smiles, and a whole lot of heart. Northwich posted 105-5 from their 20 overs, with some great contributions throughout the batting lineup. Holmes Chapel edged it in the end, reaching 106 all out in 18.3 overs, but the margin couldn't have been tighter.

The result didn't go our way on the day, but this was a performance full of promise and plenty to build on. We are so proud of every single one of these women.

If you fancy getting involved in women's cricket at Northwich CC, we'd love to have you. Come on down and join us!

Under 9s vs Holmes Chapel
Another win last night for our Under 9’s against a strong Holmes Chapel team - what a fabulous start to the season. Another debut for one and a number of kids only playing their 2nd ever game, and what a great game it was where every single player contributed with bat, ball and in the field. Great work!

Under 15s vs Nantwich
Nantwich won the toss and elected to bat. Northwich put on a strong bowing display which left 129 to chase. Although 3 batters put on a steady display scoring over 20 each and the team gave the chase a good go - it just wasn’t quite enough and Nantwich took the win by 15 runs. What a fantastic close game it turned out to be!

Under 15s vs Nantwich
Our under 11’s faced Nantwich at home last night, which brought even more players making their debut playing hard ball. Such a supportive bunch who all did great! Nantwich won the toss and opted to bat, with Nantwich making 139 we knew it would be a tough chase! Although Northwich gave it a good try it wasn’t quite enough with Nantwich winning by 45 runs! We are really proud how this team has stepped up to hardball - and no doubt they will continue to learn as the season continues - well done team!
