Week 11 Round-Up: Victories, Near Misses & Upcoming Fixtures

A week of thrilling matches for Northwich CC, with notable wins for the 2nd XI, U13s, and U9s. Here’s a look back and what’s ahead this weekend.

Seniors

Barnton 219/3 vs Northwich 194 all out
Northwich 1st XI faced Barnton on Saturday in a competitive league encounter. Electing to field first, Northwich saw Barnton post a strong 219 for 3 in their 45 overs. In response, Northwich battled hard but were dismissed for 194 in 44.5 overs, falling 25 runs short. A spirited effort from the team, with positives to take into the next fixture. Match Report

Northwich 2nd XI 156/2 vs Runcorn 2nd XI 153 all out
Our 2nd XI hosted Runcorn on Saturday and delivered a commanding performance. After winning the toss, Runcorn elected to bat but were bowled out for 153 in 39.4 overs. Northwich’s bowlers shared the wickets, with Alex Claridge-Ingham leading the attack, taking 3 for 31. In reply, Northwich chased down the target comfortably, reaching 156 for 2 in 34.5 overs. Tattenhall 108/8 vs Northwich 107 all out
Our 3rd XI travelled to Tattenhall on Saturday for a closely fought league fixture. Northwich posted 107 all out, with valuable contributions from Peter Aspinall (41) and Mathew George (31*). In response, Tattenhall chased down the target with just two wickets to spare in the final over. A narrow defeat, but a strong effort from the team with plenty to build on. Match Report


Juniors

U15s
Our U15s were in action on Wednesday away at Haslington. Northwich batted first and put up a solid total of 153, with Jack Baskeyfield retiring on 30 and some great late hitting from Arnold Downes. Haslington chased it down in the final over, despite some tight bowling and good effort in the field. Unlucky lads – a really competitive game and plenty of positives to take!

U13s
Our Under 13’s got back to winning ways on Monday, they were away to Sandbach for a league game. Sandbach won the toss and opted to bat first, Northwich put on a really strong bowling performance with 2 bowlers taking 3 wickets each. Sandbach making 81 all out. Northwich stepped in to bat and with only needing 3 batters to complete the chase. Without losing a wicket they made it a convincing victory! Well done lads! Fabulous performance!

U9s
Our Under 9’s took on Holmes chapel on Monday night. A fantastic team performance meant a Northwich victory. The game was full of consistent, straight bowling followed by some big hitting which secured win. The team spirit in this squad is clear to see - nothing but encouragement and support for each other! Well done lads!
