Thrilling wins, close contests, and standout junior performances mark another action-packed week for Northwich CC across all age groups.

Seniors

Northwich CC 180/9 def. Langley CC 177 all out
Northwich 1st XI secured another tight victory on the road with a 1-wicket win over Langley CC in their Division 1 clash on Saturday. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Northwich restricted Langley to 177 all out with a disciplined team bowling performance. In reply, the chase was far from straightforward. After slipping to 68 for 5, key middle-order contributions helped rebuild the innings. Despite a flurry of late wickets, Northwich held their nerve and reached the target with just one wicket and 10 balls to spare, sealing an important win in a low-scoring thriller. Match Report

Northwich CC 2nd XI 166/4 def. Macclesfield CC 3rd XI 162/8
Northwich 2nd XI continued their excellent run of form with a comfortable 6-wicket win over Macclesfield on Saturday. After losing the toss and being asked to bowl, Northwich restricted the visitors to 162 for 8 from their 40 overs through disciplined bowling and tidy fielding. In response, the home side chased down the target with ease, reaching 166 for 4 in just 29.4 overs. It was another strong all-round performance, securing 17 valuable points and keeping momentum firmly on their side. Match Report

Christleton CC Sunday XI 193 all out def. Northwich CC 3rd XI 150 all out
Northwich 3rd XI fell to a 43-run defeat away to Christleton on Sunday in their Division 3 West clash. After electing to field first, Northwich bowled well to dismiss the hosts for 193 in 39 overs, keeping themselves well in the contest. However, despite a promising start to the chase, the visitors were bowled out for 150 in the 37th over. It was a competitive showing, but ultimately not enough to chase down the target, as Christleton claimed the win and full points.. Match Report

Juniors

U15s
Our Under 15’s were at home against Nantwich. Always a tough game against Nantwich and this game was no different! The visitors winning the toss and opting to bat, putting on a strong display making 133 runs! Northwich took on the chase with 2 batters making over 30 runs but unfortunately Nantwich took the victory by 15 runs! Two games to go or this fantastic group of lads, until this season draws to a close! Bring them on!

U13s
Our under 13’s played their final game of the season against Davenham on Monday - to celebrate the end of the season we made a few butties and hot dogs to share with the opposition at the end of a thrilling game of cricket!! The result was a tie!! Can you believe it - this team have had 2 ties and so many close games this season feels like us spectators live on the edge of our seat!! So proud of these lads and how far they have come this season! With a number of players moving to U13’s for the first season and the whole team has excelled themselves with how they perform, support eachother and represent this club! We are sad to see the season end but we have a training game next week, a wildshore trip to celebrate the end of season and training will continue! With the season drawing to a close it would be amiss to not send the BIGGEST of shout outs to our coach - Alex Ingham!! A fantastic coach and the biggest supporter of all the lads! The team are so lucky to have you and although teenage lads tend to communicate in grunts and banter, they are incredibly grateful for the time and effort you have put in this season! #legend

U9s
Our Under 9’s faced Winnington Park on Monday night… it was an incredibly close game which we couldn't quite get over the line - losing by 5 runs. Yet again this team put on a really good bowling and fielding display in some tricky weather conditions - taking 9 wickets in the process. Unfortunately the wickets continued to fall when we were batting and we never quite got our noses in front. Only the 2nd league defeat of the season for this brilliant group of lads, which is a great effort. Two games left next week to complete this season for a lovely group of lads!

Junior Novas
As we left Northwich yesterday afternoon for our Girls’ Team’s first EVER away game, the foreboding skies and threatening rain clouds belied what a lovely warm summer evening awaited us an hour away at Irby Cricket Club. This match was the return fixture from our home game against them last week where the Irby girls put in a very strong performance in both innings taking the win. Yet, without a hint of trepidation, our girls headed straight to the nets and began warming up. Captain for the game, Annie, won the toss and elected to bowl. And what an innings! Last week our bowling ‘extras’ cost us several runs; last night we made them play the ball! The girls’ improvement all round in just a few shorts days was sensational – it shows what sponges they are, absorbing coaching tips and putting them into practice. Fielding drills are clearly paying off too, and excellent backing-up meant boundaries were regularly thwarted. The result – they held Irby to 277 taking five wickets along the way. Irby very kindly treated the girls to ice lollies during the break and suitably refreshed the first batting pair headed out. The runs ticked over nicely and not just ones and twos – the girls really got to grips (excuse the pun) with the new bats and pushed the ball for 14 fours and one superb six, losing only three wickets. They finished on a magnificent 310. The win is fantastic, but what really should be celebrated is the incredible team work and vibe. The 'motivational jabbering' (AKA on field support, thanks Thea) was first rate, praising each other for great deliveries and nifty catches as well as shouts of ‘you’ve got this’, ’just go again’ when things didn’t go to plan. It was a very mature performance laced with lots of fun, frolics and quirks - just as it should be! Well done to ALL the girls who played and thank you to Irby for being such welcoming hosts – until next time!
